What is a domain name and how can I get one?
A domain name is your address on the World Wide Web. To be accessed from anywhere in the world, a domain name must be registered with an ICANN accredited registrar. If you already have a domain name, there is no additional cost to use that domain name with getNetworks. If you need a domain name you can purchase one through getNetworks. We'll handle the entire registration and domain name management process for you. getNetworks can register available .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz domain names. How long does it take to setup a new account?
Our Automated Sign-Up Form ensures you have provided us with all necessary details to set your account up pending payment approval. Spamming, the sale of spam software, providing access for spam, or the sending of unsolicited e-mail, from a getNetworks server or using an e-mail address or domain that is maintained on a getNetworks server as reference is STRICTLY prohibited. What are getNetworks' server specifications?
Since we offer different types of hosting packages, our server specs vary. The bare minimum is a 2.4GHz processor with 2GB RAM. All servers have mirrored SATA RAID arrays. [ top ]

What software does getNetworks run on its servers?
We use RedHat Enterprise Linux running Apache v1.3 as the web server. We also offer PHP 4.4+, MySQL 5+, and Perl 5.8+. Please note that we update frequently and this page may have yet to be updated to reflect the most recent upgrades. [ top ]

How do I transfer my site to getNetworks?
Step 1: Sign up with us just as if it was a new account.
Step 2: Upon payment verification you will receive a welcome email from us informing you that the setup of your account has been completed.
Step 3: Transfer your content and test your site on our server using the information provided in the welcome email.
Step 4: Email a domain name transfer request (or use a web interface if available) to the appropriate registrar company (the company that you initially registered your domain name through). Use the getnetworks.com nameservers that are on the signup form when transferring your domain name. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Step 5: Once you verify the transfer, the registrar will point your domain name at our nameservers, and the rest of the world will be able to access your new site on our server with your domain name. [ top ]

What is getNetworks's connectivity?
The getNetworks' Data Center (DC) is connected to the Internet through multiple direct private gigabit Ethernet backbones from Telia, PCCW-BTN, Global Crossing and Savvis/Cable & Wireless for primary traffic, a 10 gigabit connection to Cogent and a second gigabit connection to Telia for lower-priority secondary traffic, as well as a supplemental gigabit Ethernet connection to the Atlanta Internet Exchange (AIX) public peering point supplying 12 additional providers, including Earthlink, Cox Communications and Georgia Tech. Very few providers have a network that can outperform and outconnect ours, and whatever your bandwidth needs may be, getNetworks has the scalability to meet them. The ability for you to add a secure certificate is included with all plans except for our Standard Plan.
